Horse hay fed on the ground results in up to 40% waste.  That's a lot of good money ground into the dirt in just a short amount of time.  In addition, sand colic can be deadly to equines, and is usually caused when they pick up small amounts of sand in bites while nibbling loose hay off the ground.


Below are some ideas on how to help keep hay off the ground and out of the dirt, manure, and mud so it can be eaten rather than trampled into an expensive mess (which also has to be cleaned up, by the way.)
