ASK FOR TRANSPORT ASSIST
PLEASE READ THIS FIRST.
If you purchased your equine from an AUCTION, FEED LOT, KILL BUYER, BROKER, ETC. and it has not yet been PROPERLY QUARANTINED*, skip steps 1-4 and go to the OTHER EQUINES section (below).
Advisory: We do not consider 'quarantine' that was provided by kill pen owners or their affiliates as being proper QT or acceptible for transport on Fleet of Angels missions. QT must be done off-site from auctions, feed lots, and kill pens, must not be done by associates of kill pen/feed lot owners, and must follow strict and proper quarantine procedures. (See Quarantine Matters section, below.) Proper quarantine is necessary to insure the safety of the rescued equine as well as other equines with which it will come in contact during transport. The FOA Directory provides a searchable listing of over 225 members who are QT providers for your consideration, but you are not required to use an FOA QT provider.
TRANSPORTATION FOR CLEAN* EQUINES
* 'Clean' equines are healthy and have not been exposed to illnesses at public facilities (auctions, feed lots, kill pens, etc. for at least 30 days, and do not need to be quarantined.
INSTRUCTIONS: FOLLOW THE EASY STEPS BELOW.
Complete and submit a Request for Assistance (Required)

TRANSPORTATION FOR OTHER EQUINES*
*At FOA, 'other equines' are those that have not been properly quarantined after being purchased from auctions, feed lots, brokers, agents, or other high risk equine holding facilities or facilities housing sick or potentially sick or contagious animals. Several kill buyers are now offering 'QT' services for buyers of their horses. None of them offer proper QT. Putting horses that have not been properly quarantined aboard trailers with healthy horses endangers all horses on those trailers. Unquarantined horses from these kinds of public facilities should be considered health risks to all other horses with which they come in contact.

ARE YOU RESCUING AN A-RISK FROM AN AUCTION, FEEDLOT, BROKER, KILL BUYERS PEN, OR SLAUGHTER TRUCK? YOUR FIRST STEP SHOULD BE TO PROPERLY QUARANTINE BEFORE TRANSPORTING
EVERY EQUINE RESCUED FROM ONE OF THE ABOVE FACILITIES SHOULD SPEND 30 DAYS IN QUARANTINE BEFORE BEING TRANSPORTED FOR A LONG DISTANCE. THIS IS NECESSARY TO PROTECT NOT ONLY THE HORSES AT THE FINAL DESTINATION, BUT ALSO TO PROTECT ALL THE EQUINES ALONG THE TRANSPORT ROUTE. PLEASE BE A RESPONSIBLE RESCUER.

After the equine has been quarantined, owners are welcome to seek low cost transportation by submiting a Request for Assistance and then using the interactive Fleet of Angels tools on our web site.
**To learn what is the standard of care for 'proper quarantine', please see the acticles on that topic posted on our Facebook page on quarantine-related issues, 'Quarantine Matters'.
HAVE WE HELPED YOU?
NOW WE NEED YOUR HELP.
NOW, FLEET OF ANGEL NEEDS YOUR ASSISTANCE. If an FOA member assists you with the transporting or housing of your at-risk equine, please consider making a financial contribution to our mission so our efforts can continue. Even a one-time or monthly donation of $10.00 from each rescuer helped by FOA would make a big difference in the number of others we can assist.
